Service Technician
Role Description
ACE Supply in Livonia is looking for a reliable and skilled Service Technician to join our team. In this role, you’ll perform maintenance and repairs on vacuum trucks and other heavy diesel equipment. If you’re hands-on, mechanically inclined, and passionate about keeping equipment running at its best, we want to hear from you. Experience in vacuum trucks and/or other diesel equipment is preferred but not required.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and repair on vacuum trucks and heavy equipment.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues.
- Conduct preventive maintenance to ensure vehicle performance and reliability.
- Work closely with team members to improve equipment uptime and shop efficiency.
Qualifications
- Prior experience working with diesel equipment is prefered.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to troubleshoot basic vehicle issues.
- Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot heavy equipment issues.
- Ability to execute technical repairs with precision and attention to detail.
Schedule
- Full-time / 40 hours per week
- Monday - Friday
- Weekend and holidays off

Mobile Service Technician
Position Summary
The Mobile Mechanic is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining vacuum trucks and related equipment directly at customer job sites or other off-site locations. This field-based role requires mechanical expertise, strong communication skills, and the ability to work independently with safety and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive to customer locations in a fully stocked service vehicle.
- Inspect and diagnose vacuum trucks and heavy equipment.
- Perform repairs and preventive maintenance to minimize downtime.
- Maintain and track parts inventory on the mobile service unit.
- Use ACE’s service software for documentation, including preventative maintenance records and DOT compliance.
- Communicate job status, repair updates, and any changes to the Operations Manager.
- Train customers on basic operational and maintenance best practices.
Driving & Physical Requirements
- Daily travel throughout Michigan, potential travel out of state.
- Must operate service trucks safely and comply with DOT standards.
- Regularly climb in/out of vehicles and lift parts/tools up to 50 lbs.
- Work in varied outdoor and indoor environments.
Qualifications
- Valid chauffer driver’s license, or CDL preferred.
- DOT medial card.
- Experience in diesel / heavy equipment service is required; vacuum truck or hydro equipment knowledge is a plus.
- Skilled in hydraulics, mechanical, and electrical systems.
- Able to use diagnostic tools, read technical manuals, and troubleshoot independently.
- Welding and fabrication skills a plus.
